Biomes O' Plenty on Bedrock, MCPE and consoles
Can you play Biomes O' Plenty on Bedrock or Minecraft PE? How the Java mod differs from the Marketplace Add-On, and why jar files never work on Bedrock.

People search for "Biomes O' Plenty MCPE" and "Biomes O' Plenty Bedrock" all the time, and the answers online are often muddled. The short version: the mod you download as a jar file is for Minecraft: Java Edition only. Bedrock players have a separate product, and the two are not interchangeable.
Two editions, two formats
Minecraft comes in two main editions. Java Edition runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and supports mod loaders such as Forge, NeoForge and Fabric. Bedrock Edition runs on phones, tablets, consoles and Windows, and it uses a completely different system for custom content: add-ons, resource packs and Marketplace content.
Because the two editions are built differently, a Java mod cannot be "converted" by renaming a file. A .jar file does nothing on Bedrock, and a Bedrock .mcaddon or .mcpack file does nothing on Java.
The Bedrock Add-On
The mod's own project page links to a Bedrock Add-On available through the Minecraft Marketplace. That is the route the developers point Bedrock players towards. Things to keep in mind:
- It is obtained through the Marketplace inside Bedrock, not through the Java download links on this site.
- Marketplace content follows its own pricing, set in the Marketplace itself. Check the listing for current details.
- An add-on is its own product, so its content and behaviour may not match the Java mod one for one.
About "free addon download" pages
Search results for "Biomes O' Plenty addon free download" often lead to sites offering repackaged files. Some are fan-made projects inspired by the mod; others re-upload content without permission. Neither is the developers' release. Files from unknown sources can be broken, outdated or unsafe, and redistributing paid Marketplace content is not permitted. If a site promises a free version of paid content, be cautious. Our guide to download sources explains how to tell official uploads apart from re-uploads.
This site does not host or link to any Bedrock files. The single download button in our download section points to the Java project's GitHub repository.
Which one should you use?
Use the edition you actually play. If you are on a phone, tablet or console, the Marketplace Add-On is the relevant product. If you play on a computer and are comfortable installing a loader, the Java mod gives you the full modding ecosystem around it: other mods, modpacks and configuration files.
