How to find Biomes O' Plenty biomes
Locate specific Biomes O' Plenty biomes with the locate command, understand why explored chunks stay vanilla and find Overworld, Nether and End additions.

Biomes O' Plenty adds a large set of new biomes, and the fun of the mod is stumbling across them. Sometimes, though, you want a specific one: a redwood forest to build a treehouse, or a lavender field for a photo. Here is how to find what you are looking for.
What to expect
The mod describes itself as adding more than 50 unique biomes across the Overworld, the Nether and the End, together with new plants, flowers, trees and building blocks. These biomes generate only in chunks created after the mod is installed. If you added the mod to an old world, the area around your base will look exactly as it did before, so head into unexplored land.
Using the locate command
With cheats enabled (or as a server operator), the locate command points you to the nearest instance of a biome. The syntax depends on your Minecraft version:
| Minecraft version | Command format |
|---|---|
| 1.19 and newer | /locate biome biomesoplenty:<biome_id> |
| 1.16 to 1.18 | /locatebiome biomesoplenty:<biome_id> |
You rarely need to remember IDs. Type the start of the command followed by biomesoplenty: and press Tab; the game suggests every biome the mod has registered in your version. That list is also the most reliable way to see which biomes exist in your exact version, because names and IDs have changed over the years.
If the command reports that it cannot find a biome, that biome may be rare, far away, disabled in the configuration, or not part of your version.
Overworld, Nether and End
Overworld biomes are the ones most players see first. Nether biomes appear once you travel through a portal into newly generated Nether terrain, and End additions appear in new End chunks. Run the locate command while standing in the dimension you want to search; it only looks in the current dimension.
Biomes worth looking for
The mod's own screenshot gallery highlights biomes such as the Coniferous Forest, Field, Gravel Beach, Wetland, Bog, Redwood Forest, Seasonal Forest, Pasture, Lavender Field and Dune Beach. Each has its own palette of trees and plants, which makes them popular with builders who want specific wood types or colours. Use Tab completion to confirm the exact ID before running the command.
Finding biomes in survival
Without commands, exploration is the way. Travelling in a straight line crosses more biome borders than wandering in circles. Boats along rivers and coastlines cover distance quickly, and maps help you remember where each biome is. Fast travel also means lots of fresh chunk generation, so if your game stutters, the performance tips are worth a look. New to the mod? Start with the installation guide.
